Massage modalities

Relaxing massage

This classic treatment involves the use of long, smooth strokes and circular movements to release tension, improve circulation and promote relaxation.

Deep tissue massage

This treatment works on deeper layers of muscle tissue to relieve particular areas of tightness and muscular pain and break down painful knots. Think slow, firm strokes applied using the heel of hand, forearm and elbow to apply a deep and therapeutic pressure.

Thai massage

Traditional Thai massage combines rhythmic compression, acupressure and yoga-like stretching techniques to clear energy blockages and relieve muscular tension. Body weight pressure is applied through thumbs, hands, feet, elbows, forearms and knees. This style of massage is performed on a mat on the floor while the client is wearing loose-fitting comfortable clothes.

Chair massage

An onsite chair massage treatment involves sitting, fully-clothed, on a comfortable, specially-adapted chair and receiving a 15, 20 or 30-minute back, neck, shoulder and optional scalp massage. No oil is used making it a quick, convenient and fuss-free way of relieving stress and tension. The treatment involves a variety of massage techniques and can be tailored to the individual’s needs and preferences.

Pregnancy massage

Pregnancy massage is designed to relieve some of the aches and pains that mums-to-be can experience, improve circulation and reduce swelling, and promote relaxation and a sense of wellbeing for mum and baby. During this treatment you will be placed on your side, propped up with plenty of pillows and covered with towels and blankets to create a relaxing and supportive environment.

Manual lymphatic drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a very light form of massage. Skin stretches and light pumping pressure stimulate the body’s lymphatic system, helping the body to eliminate waste and toxins, reducing puffiness or swelling in limbs or joints and providing a boost to the immune system. No oil is used in this treatment as the skin needs to be dry in order to be able to gently move and stretch the lymph vessels which are close to the surface. This light-touch nature of this treatment makes it deeply relaxing.
